Patriots cut Jonathan Fanene, two others

The New England Patriots have cut DL Jonathan Fanene, OL Kyle Hill and K Chris Koepplin.

30 yr old Fanene was a bit of a surprise here at the FVP offices. He was given a three year deal with a $3.85m signing bonus. Reports on the interwebs have it that the veteran lineman may have an arthritic knee. It remains to be seen if the Pats go after the $$ due to a faulty physical or undisclosed injury.

Fanene, 30, was signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent from Cincinnati, a 7 year vet.  The 6-4, 285-pounder originally entered the NFL as a seventh-rounder 2005 out of Utah. He accounted for  12.5 sacks in his last two full NFL seasons with 6.5 in 2011 and 6.0 in 2009. Fanene was limited to two games in 2010 due to an injury.
